Memoirs of a Good Weekend

Hello beautiful people! How are y'all doing today? In case you haven't noticed, someone is in a fab mood today ^_^. I had a great weekend- good food, good people, great stuff (nasty weather though). I'll give you the highlights.. mostly. The weekend started on Thursday for me, visited some friends who live an hour away from my city. It was snowing cats and dogs! but I got there in one piece. We did our manicure :D and made some delish pizza :D and caught up on life and American Idol. There were a lot of laughs about Nicki Minaj's Nicknaming. Got back home Friday evening and caught up with my friends at Seattle Grace Hospital ( Its from a TV show- Grey's Anatomy).
I had movie night Saturday, finally saw Life of Pi. Beautiful visuals. Loved the Bengal tiger, I can't wait till animals and humans get to live together (Isaiah 65:25). Then that mind boggling ending (SPOILER ALERT), I do not want to believe that Richard Parker was his way of blocking what really happened. I actually stayed up all night picturing his second story where the Zebra was the sailor, the orangutan his mother, the hyena the cook and he, the Bengal tiger. I'd rather believe that it was just him and the animals on the boat. Well, if you haven't seen Life of Pi, you should, its really good and then you'd understand all his rambling better. Ohh and I watched the Togo-Algeria match with some friends, I thought it was a bit slow, hopefully as the competition progresses, we'll get more action. But it was still great!
I learned an important lesson about forgiveness this weekend too. Its important, for your health, your peace of mind and your relationship with God. I know this might sound cliche, but someone you haven't forgiven has control over you and I don't know about you but I like to have control over myself and not have the mere sight of someone piss me off every time. I'd rather be indifferent *shrugs*. Also, one question, I'd like to know your opinion (if anyone's reading this, lol) sound off in the comments below ''Do you think looking back at the past is healthy?'' I think its got pros and cons, like it helps you see how much you've grown and how much you've been blessed and how much you've learned from life. It can also be unhealthy, if you let the past obstruct your future kinda like looking at the rear view mirror too often while driving and neglecting looking ahead. I'd really like to know what y'all think.
And now, the best part, :) PHOTOS! Enjoy!

Week In Review

Hello guys!
I hope you all had a great week. I personally did not have one of the best weeks, so many mood swings, it was quite dizzying. But nothing like family and friends to help you count your blessings and I'm finally looking forward to the holiday (yup I've got a break for two weeks). I'm hoping to be able to share some photos and fun experiences on here.  I discovered I like Florence and the machine just recently. The funny thing thing about me is that I like songs and artists at my own time, its ridiculous. Starting the new week with a fresh attitude and happiness.
Took a few photos this week as well and reconnected with some friends. There has been weight gain too!! :D.

These are some of the photos. I've been analyzing some stuff lately as well, basically I've got too much time on my hands. But its some pretty cool stuff I think and I'll let you all know as soon as I've got it all figured out. I'm also considering making serious travel plans for the summer, but we'll see. One important thing I learned this week though is that ''You're in control of how you feel and you should make the decision to be happy'' ( It spares you stress lines ;)).
That's all folks! Have a great week and talk to you soon xx

Life So Far...

HEY Guys!!!
It has been ages!!! Wow. I literally abandoned this blog.. I didn't forget about it though, I just abandoned it. I had to focus on other things and writing was becoming more of a chore for some reason (Forget all the grammar, it was a major case of writer's block plus being too busy to actually think). But, I'm back. A lot has changed, there's been a lot of growth and experiences. I discovered that I can't share experiences on the internet generally because I feel like everything is so private and should be kept to oneself, but the new plan is to share a little more, not that a ton of people would be interested in my random thoughts and experiences but I'll try all the same.
The highlights that you all have missed so far include school, exams, shopping, food, tumblr-ing and a lot of series. For those of you who want to try new series, I suggest Deception, The Carrie Diaries (if you liked Sex and the City), The Lying game, Revenge. Series are my best buddies these days. And, I have a new tumblr leaopardprintsandstripes.tumblr.com <---Please check it out. Oh and I'm falling in love with photography and pictures so there might be a bit of that, you know a picture is worth a thousand words. So on the blog, there'll be a bunch of stuff: pictures I've taken (I'm not a photographer, its just a hobby), songs I like, poems, experiences and just stuff.
The whole point of this post is to say that I'm back and I will be thinking of this blog a lot and posting more and sharing more. I hope you're all well xx

Morning

                        I stir on my bed
Lifting my eyelids still heavy with sleep
                        I feel on my flesh
                        The cool breeze of morning

                         The stillness of dawn
The birds seem to still be asleep
                          Humans still slumber
                          I hear the silence

                           Morning...
''Bringer'' of second chances, new beginnings
                            A new day has come
                            I soak in the feeling

                            And now, on the horizon
I see the ''orangeness'' of sunrise
                            I feel brand new
                            ALIVE!

Anyone who knows me knows I like morning time for  its silence, peace and serenity. I really haven't had much time to appreciate my mornings lately because I'm always dashing out early in the morning, hurrying to make it to my classes in time. So, this is like a tribute to mornings. :). I also haven't been on this blog for ages... But i'm back ( I think ). Ohh and I have some good news.. I now sorta blog for a website owned by some students in my university (Yayy me.!). I'd like you all to check it out --->> http://donmedpost.com/ The latest post is by yours truly. :D.

Things I Learned These Past Weeks.

Hey y'all!!! I know, I know. Its been weeks. I did not forget my blog. So much has been happening between visa stuff, my lack of internet and yes I do confess to laziness to type (I hate typing!). Oh and my hatred for MTN. The idiots (forgive my language) refused to allow me make phone calls or text or tweet!- Nothing at all. :(. Plus they have just been stealing my credit. Mschewww. Anyway, forgive my deviation. Basically, too much has gone on (a lot sha)... So I decided to pack it all into one post. This post is just all the stuff I've learned from my recent experiences *wipes sweat*. You may know some of these things or you might have even learned some of 'em yourself but, there's love in sharing. Hehe... so I'mma share mine.
- Expectation Postponed Is Making The Heart Sick: This is from Proverbs 13:12. It is sooo true! I experienced this while waiting for my visa. It was supposed to arrive Friday two weeks ago. After waiting the first two weeks, I got a call that it was gonna come Tuesday not Friday. I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach. :((. So I did what I do when I'm depressed- SLEEP. I slept myself into a migraine. *sigh* Omo! I had to change plans. Stop the excess sleep and just enjoy my last days in Nigeria. :). I did get my visa though! YAY!!! :D . Thank God.
Lesson Learnt? : Never let yourself be crushed by disappointment especially about stuff you can't change.
-Distance Is Powerful: This was actually a very shocking revelation. I mean, I always knew that long distance stuff is never easy. But in my mind, I kinda assumed that's when you may not love someone enough, but guess what? I was wrong :(. Long distance is ALWAYS a bummer. For friends, family and anyone you genuinely care about who's away from you. I realized this last two weeks when two really close friends (yes I said two friends.. ask no questions! :p) were slowly growing apart. Well the great part is that they noticed and are slowly getting back on track. Distance either makes us miss people terribly or sadly just forget 'em.
Lesson Learnt? : It's amazing what distance can do to our relationships. But as long as there's life,..and internet ;), there's hope.  (Just make sure MTN is not your service provider).
-Life always goes on: Sadly/fortunately, depending on whether you're the ''forgotten'' or the ''forgetting'' one. Almost no one is irreplaceable unless we want 'em to be. It does not make us evil, but the truth is we can forget almost anyone... ALMOST!. Some people are simply unforgettable. They make such a difference/impact in our lives, we just cannot forget them. :). Some others just aren't unforgettable :-|. And some other others are just pros at forgetting people *sigh*. Then some other other others (yes, I said that B-|) remember you but NEVER call or text or try to keep in touch at all! *side eye*. I'm deviating again... Issokay.
-Most Times In A Friendship, there's The Losing Friend and The Winning Friend: Okay, just read my explanation. Friendship is always a win-win situation, of course. But by my choice of words, what I'm trying to imply is that in most friendships (90%), there is that one friend who always checks up on the other(s). In large friendship groups, that friend holds the group together.. in other words is the 'glue'. It's not always rosy being this friend, hence the term ''losing''. However, this makes 'em the better friend. Despite this, we should learn to understand that everyone is not the same. Thus, we should be happy with whatever the other party brings (I don't mean you should settle oh!) as long as they're always there when you need them :).
There you have 'em! Four things I've learned. I hope y'all have learned too. I want to thank all of you who've retweeted, commented, criticized, commended or sadly just read( yes I know you peepo *side eye*). I appreciate all of you :). Please make the best of lessons learned.
P.S I believe this is my longest post so far **dancing**. So I hope it was worth the wait! :D

Behind The Titanium

Most of you know the 'Titanium' song by David Guetta. I do not know how many times I have listened to that song... I love it! I totally love the strength it gives me. I think David Guetta is a genius. So why the title of this post?. Okay, its like this... One night I was playing 'Titanium' and for some reason, I started thinking about this Mexican soap opera ''Rafaela''. Its basically about two people who like each other and are putting up strong fronts to say otherwise. I don't know if there's a relationship, but titanium can pretty much describe the girl's exterior in ''Rafaela''. However, she's all warm and mushy inside.
What exactly is 'Titanium' to me? Personally, a person who says '' I Am Titanium'', to me should be just as the song says...and then some more, especially when people ''shoot you down'' or say hurtful things about you to try to ''cut you down''. However, I just want to add that being ''Titanium'' does not mean that you close yourself to love or build walls around yourself. It means that you are ''Titanium'' enough to allow yourself to love and to be loved and to trust and be trusted because as my friend (I'd like to think of her as my friend :)) Sonia would say, ''If you get hurt, its only pain and there's no gain without pain''. (Thank you Sonia).
I have just one problem with that song. A part/line/phrase of it that says :
                                                        ''I have nothing to lose''.
What exactly does this mean? Usually, having nothing to lose is not a good thing. It means you have nothing to be ''Titanium'' for! #justsaying. Anyhow sha, I love the song! ^_^. Please, let us all try to be somewhat ''Titanium''. Let us not 'pretend' to be ''Titanium'' and cry at night because of something someone said or even allow ourselves to become upset by something someone does. I know, I know...  It's easier said than done (even for me) but it's not totally impossible. I know many ''Titaniums'' ;)

                                         I        AM        TITANIUM!!!!... :)

(P.S If you haven't,PLEASE listen to ''Titanium'' by David Guetta feat. Sia (http://en.dilandau.eu/download_music/titanium-david-guetta-1.html). This makes a lot more sense  after you have)

The Thing About Love Songs

I'm sure we've all wondered what it is about love songs. They have the power to make us feel. Somehow, listening to Celine Dion, Adele (I started listening to her oh) or even some of Beyonce's songs or Westlife, sha any love song can either make you sad, happy, sad or just lonley.
After careful thought and analysis (by yours truly..hehe), I was able to figure out three reasons why love songs appeal to us:
 - Love songs sympathize with us: They help us wallow in our loneliness. A friend of mine once said that love songs make people even more melancholy. However, we seem to feel better after such sadness from certain songs, probably because we have been helped to deal with our grief/sadness. We have been given some kind of therapy... a wallow partner.
 - We can relate to them: The joy of first love and the pain of first heartbreak are surely not foreign to us. Hence when we listen to songs that talk about these things, we can simply relate to them and we are thus happy to sing along or just listen.
 - They bring us hope that love still exists: When we hear/listen to love crooners tell us the beauty of falling in love, we just can't wait to 'fall' just so we can experience the phenomenon. As humans, we all like to believe that love exists because we are made in God's image and God is Love.
I wrote this piece because many of us believe in love for the wrong reasons. Granted, we all love our celebrity couples (myself included), but the response to the rumor that Will and Jada Smith had split a few days ago was really saddening. Its amazing to think that some people believed that if the rumor was true, then love is dead :O. Like seriously????. GOD IS LOVE, and love continues to exist until He is no more which will NEVER happen!!!!. We all need to sit back and contemplate our reasons for believing in stuff.
My point? Believe in Love, BUT for the right reasons.
